Why This Blog Exists

I started my blog, All Grown Up, back in June 2010. In that time I have learned (and am still learning) a lot about writing: how to write, what makes people want to read your work, how to cram a lot of thoughts, emotions, and lessons into not a lot of text (this post not withstanding); and, most importantly, that having a professional blog certainly doesn’t mean losing sight of who you personally are.

That’s why I’m starting Round 2 right here and now. This blog, i.Opening, is the exact opposite of what I want my professional blog to be. There is going to be a lot of stupid on this blog. And why not? Stupid can be funny.

Because, you see, I am a child at heart. I know it, my closest friends know it, and I am proud of it. What are the greatest things about being a kid? The willingness to laugh, learn, explore, and to be open to everything. And that’s what this blog is about. The internet is a place without limits, without boundaries. There are an infinite number of fart jokes, memes, video clips, personalities, idiots, geniuses, idiots that seem like geniuses, and much more on the internet. It’s a place to explore. As a child, you are the best explorer.

When I can, I like to see things through the eyes of a child. I like to explore. I like to laugh. Hence the name i.Opening. The name has two meanings. One addresses the look so frequently etched on a person’s face after seeing something new or amazing. The other addresses me. This is about who I really am. It’s me having an outlet for those childish moments and discoveries, and so others can share them with me. Everyone likes to act like a kid sometimes. Most just don’t like to admit it.
